Professional Bio
Dr Suzie Belcher has 15 years of practical industry experience in sports performance and physiotherapy disciplines, as well as a history of teaching in a variety of higher educational environments. Suzie has been a clinical educator/lecturer for undergraduate, newly graduated and master’s physiotherapy students. She is very passionate about the importance of higher education on guiding the next generation to transition research and learnt understanding into sound practical outcomes that benefit the community. She has also acted in several leadership or clinical management roles.
Suzie regularly contributes to international and national publications as a reviewer, including high impact factor journals such as British Journal of Sports medicine. Suzie attends both national and international conferences to distribute her and her team’s research findings. She has been a guest speaker, educator or coach for industry groups (High Performance Sport NZ, Sports Medicine NZ, Netball NZ, and others). Suzie's main research focus is on sports injury prevention, performance and movement analysis. Her current research focus is towards Women in Sport. She utilises mixed methods in her research including but not limited to narrative reviews, epidemiological, multi-site cluster randomised controlled design and cross-sectional observation video analysis studies. All research project designs are based on improving ecological valid capture of data and/or outputs that can be utilised in improving education of sports stakeholder's ability to reduce injury or improve movement performance. Her main research focus is on sports injury prevention, performance and movement analysis.
