Professional Bio
Sara Chica-Latorre is a PhD candidate and research assistant at the University of Canberra Research Institute for Sport and Exercise, researching menstrual cycle symptoms in sportswomen and how to manage these through diet.
After graduating with a Bachelor of Science/Honours from the Australian National University in 2015, Sara spent two-years working in plant-ecophysiology research, then her intertest transitioned into sports science and education, entering the fitness industry and Vocational Education and Training sector in 2017 and 2019 respectively. This trajectory further ignited Sara's passion in health and nutrition leading her to complete a Graduate Diploma in Nutritional Science in 2019 and a Master in Nutrition and Dietetics in 2021. In early 2022, Sara started a PhD where she is combining her three biggest passions: Research, exercise and nutrition, aspiring to make a difference in women in sports research.
